Not bad for a Monday

We were in KC for a short visit and stopped by MIssie B's to check out at least one of KC's bars. It was moderately busy and had a drag show on an adjoining floor and stage. Friendly to strangers, which is more than can be said for a lot of local bars in the midwest.

This is it...

This is basically the only place in town if you're looking for a "larger" gay bar. They have a fun dance space, an old-timey drag show (Cher, Dolly and George Michael were the staples) and great drinks. The bartenders are very friendly, though I've noticed no one in the midwest likes to make much eye contact. The only place to smoke is a tiny place "outside". If you smoke you will REEK of it by the end of the night. Cute boys and the place gets packed on the weekends. I'd start elsewhere and go to this place around 10 or later. Not the best, but not so bad.

Love this place!

I love missie b's. It draws a great crowd and is reasonably priced for drinks. The dirty dorothy show is great. The only drawbacks is its super busy on weekends so busy you can't move and straight people tend to go here to gawk at the gays for bachlerotee parties (gag!) plus a couple of the bartenders are lame and not very friendly. Other than that I love this place!

If you're stuck in KC...

You could do worse than Missie B's. Cruzy, fun bar. Weekend has busy dance floor upstairs. It's a tight fit and rather small, but the locals seem to like it. There is only smoking in a tiny, enclosed area out back, so if you smoke plan to stink like an ashtray. Friday and Saturdays seem to be the only busy nights. It was dead on Sunday and from what the bartenders say, it's like that more most of the rest of the week. Locals are friendly and I would be comfortable going alone, though there were (again) a lot of str8 chicks.
